The Memphis Grizzlies went into Chesapeake Energy Arena confident that they can hang with Kevin Durant and his Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 5 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals. Thus far in the series, which was tied at two games apiece, three of the four games went into overtime. Game 5 was no different. Setting an NBA record for consecutive overtime games, the Grizzles were led by Mike Conley who scored a team high 21 points sending the Thunder home in overtime 100-99 and only one game from a long summer vacation.
The Thunder, led by Russell Westbrook who had 30 points and 13 assists, now have to regroup and see if they can answer the Grizzlies back.
“We knew it was going to be tough, they’re a great team, now we have to put all our energy and focus into the next game,” Head Coach Scott Brooks said after the game. “We have to pick ourselves up and get ready and we have 48 hours to do that.”
